Tuesday 1 May 2012: The Turkey Eggs Have Landed :o)

So they've arrived fertile turkey eggs. Now resting having been in the postal system for just under 24hrs. They need to be rested to allow air cells to settle.
I will candle them before hand to check for any ruptured air cells as these are best not incubated. The air cell needs to be in the right place for hatching.
They will be going under Grom tomorrow am and then it's 28 days of waiting :o)
I will candle them periodically to watch for progress. Usually with in 5-7 days you can see them starting to grow. With the ducks I can tell within 2-3 days but they are easier with the shells being plain rather than speckled.

I headed off this morning to collect the under paid postage on the letter which was sent. Ironically it was my time sheets for work , hmmm adding £1.12p to that maybe, I wont but it's a thought lol
I had spotted a bag at the p/office last week when there so whilst I was out I decided the time had come to cash in my lottery ticket and spend spend spend. The win was £10 the bag was £9 (last of the big spenders me lol) it's only a canvasy type but a big opening and red & pink, so bright & cheery.
I have sprayed it with waterproofy stuff to try & help protect it a tad.

There was a kerfuffle outside at 10:30 with the dogs barking. I presumed it was the postie but no it was my trainers I'd ordered at 6:30 last night!!!! I was told they'd be here tomorrow - so happy with that, it means no one has to wait in for them at least :o)

Today has been spent indoors (thanks weather) but we did manage to get some nice photo's of the Goldfinches on the feeders. I have uploaded one to my Blipfolio here >>>>

GOLDFINCH

(first time using, think I got it right ?)

But today really was about the eggs and giving Grom some of her own kind again after loosing her last pal last year.
Obviously it goes with out saying I will keep you updated on progress :o)

And finally, no egg from the Biscuit lol
