Wednesday 2 May 2012: Funny old day - But sunny :o)

Whilst sitting on my bench before breakie I could hear Tom honking. Nothing major there really that's what geese do.
But that funny feeling crept over me and straight after breakie I headed down to see what he & Biscuit were up to in their house :oO
She was sat on her nest :oD So pleased, he hissed at me so I respected their privacy and headed out to do a happy dance.
She eventually emerged from her house 3/4 of an hour later. In her nest sat a perfect white egg :o)

With celebrations done and lots of cooing and telling her what a clever girl she was we remembered it was Turkey Egg Day!
So off we trundled Weirdfish carrying the precious cargo over to Gromits nest.
I candled them first, all air cells in tact so we placed them under her, removing her own infertile ones as we went. She happily snuggled back down with out a care so we left her to it. 28 days and counting :o)

After lunch we headed off up the lane to check the post. Midway up I got a call from my employers P.A. "Did I know what my employer had organised for tomorrow? " Thinking it was just a courtesy call to make sure I knew I told her I did and that I would be there. To which she asked where & what time! She had rung me to find out????? Now it seems I am not only a carer but also PA to the agency's P.A ??? Would it not have been simpler for her to call her boss? I should have offered her the number lol
Once myself & WFish had finally got our heads round what had just gone on we set off once more - it really was most odd. Watched the sheep being rounded up by the modern day sheep dogs (4x4's) then headed home to do some gardeny type stuff.

After cutting the grass at the back & himself cutting down a couple of trees (before they leaf up) we sat out with a cuppa.
I heard a bit of commotion so headed to the garage where most of the birds are housed to find Grom trying to get out of her pen. I helped her out and she did the necessary before heading back to her eggs.
I decided then that she would be safer in the run. She has to be protected from the others sticking thier beak/bills in but if it makes it too tricky for her to get back in then something needed to be done.
So off we set again playing move the turkey.
Move went well and she settled down in her new house with her eggs no problems.

Since tea we have emptied two of the ponds, they'd gone a lovely shade of green! Shortly we will head out and put everyone to bed.
Albert & Flo have spent the day happily sitting outside in the sun and it seem the mental stimulation has now zapped them of cat energy lol

All in all it's been a funny old day - But SUNNY :o)

Ps sorry it's another Goldfinch pic lol
