Tuesday 1 May 2012: Bonhams
Last week we met a man called Dupu at a community meeting on the formation and development of a new preschool. We know his wife, Rose, for some time now as the chair of the self help cluster. She felt w
that we should meet, we did, and I went to see his farm: amazing! Looks like we have the same views of what Malawi farming needs to be and how might move more people forward, as he is chairman of a ninety strong farmers group.
Today we picked him us to bring him to our farm and to introduce him to other good farmers we know, but not before I snapped the piglets at he calls them.
Later, when he came to the farm we gave him velvet , sunflower, onion, broad bean, lettuce, turnip, marigold and sunn hemp seeds, as well as mango, citrus, apple, passionfruit and avacado seedlings for himself and his neighbours.
This pic is especially for my mother to remind her of our pig feeding escapades, and the fairs and the ass and cart. It brought back old memories and Harisen wants to feed pigs now.
Very interesting fact: These are Irish pigs and highly favored by the farmers here!
