Thursday 3 May 2012: thats great news,Mummy!
The results of the renal scan are in....well,at least the preliminary report is.....despite an e.coli infection attacking her kidneys, making her very unwell, jeopardising her pregnancy and setting her up for almost back to back courses of antibiotics for 9 months,Bekah's kidneys now appear to be in great shape!
How incredible is that!
Bearing in mind that the obstetricians were so concerned that the constant infections would trigger labour prematurely, and Bekah was given steroid injections to mature Ollie's lungs at 33 weeks...at which point her kidneys were horribly dilated and distended. And also that on several occassions there was talk of there being a degree of kidney failure...
And here we are almost 11 weeks after Oliver's safe (and overdue) arrival...and Bekah's body has done an incredible job of healing itself :)
She has to go back to the doctor for the final report in about 10 days, but what we do know from the radiographer yesterday,is that there appears to be no scarring,no dilation or distention...2 normal kidneys!!!!
Woooo hoooooo!
There's nothing like deep breaths after laughing that hard. Nothing in the world like a sore stomach for the right reasons. ~Stephen Chbosky, The Perks of Being a Wallflower
