A Double Whammy

I only took four photos today and this is one of them; and yes, they were all of the cherry blossom in the Meadows which is lingering longer than usual, being frozen to the trees by temperatures in single figures.

The blip is a double whammy in that it incorporates the jawbone of a whale from Shetland, which guards the entrance to the eponymously named path-Jawbone Walk.

Getting this view pedestrian free is a feat which requires to be done rather early, as there is usually a constant flow of commuters, walkers and now cyclists since the freedom of access bill came into effect - at least I think that's why there is no longer any guilt felt by the cyclists weaving their way in and out of the walkers.

With the earlier start than usual His lordship and I decided to vote first, and then go seeking the sunshine in Peebles.
We have had no electioneering pamphlets because no one can get them through the main door, so it was interesting to see that there was a candidate in our ward for the Pirate party.
In the absence of a candidate for the Monster Raving Loony party, I gave the Pirate man my no 4 vote. (In the Scottish elections we give the candidates a number in order of our preference.)

Our mission to Peebles was thwarted by time involved being stuck in a queue of cars behind a failed barrier in the car park. We lost impetus and decided to go elsewhere, and where else would that be? Why the Land of Flowers and the preferred stop for tour buses of the elderly..and us.
The mitigating factor is the ability to look at plants, and oh yes, the cakes are mighty and delicious, although please note, I didn't have one today.

And what do you know? The sun finally came out, and if only the temperature would rise by ten degrees, it might begin to feel like summer.
