Thursday 3 May 2012: Goodbye ... Hello

Our beloved 2001 Discovery with 148,000 miles on it was getting a bit long in the tooth, and starting to cost us too much money - let alone 25mpg with deisel at £1.49 / litre in the lakes, and almost 20,000 miles a year. So a couple of weeks ago, we test drove a few cars, and was incredibly impressed with this Hyundai i40. It's as big as a barge (about a foot longer than the Disco) has every electronic gadget in the world (GeekMeek - you need to play!) it even parks itself. Add electric leather seats, both heated and air conditioned, glass retractable roof, reversing camera, bluetooth etc etc, AND a 5-year warranty, it was looking favourable, but then when we were offered £4,000 trade in for the Disco that we bought 4 years ago for £4,800, that settled it. Seem to get over 50mpg on the school run too, and the hifi's loud enough to drown out voices. Didn't get to choose the colour, as it's an ex-demonstrator, which is gunmetal grey, rather than silver.

So now we can claim to owning and ipod, iphone, ipad and i40!
