Waterfoot Sunrise

Mucky Swan

Cold and overcast here for most of the day although the sun has now come out and it looks as if it will be a nice evening.

Most of the day has been spent building a log store next to the new shed. Its a great way to use up all the odd pieces of wood left over from the new house and shed. The idea is to have it near the house so that in the middle of Winter, when its blowing a gale, its not far to walk from the back door.

Its lovely working outside and hearing all the sounds of Spring. The Swallows are hard at work building a nest in a neighbours outbuildings and the Sandpiper has been darting about the river. A couple of Swans took off from the river and did a fly past of the house before setting down again nearer the sea. They have been about for a couple of weeks now and it will be interesting to see if they build a nest.

I managed to get time earlier in the day to blip them as they swam about in the river. What I noticed is how dirty they are from all the peat in the water. Their heads, necks and lower halves were brownish while the rest of them was pure white. Quite a contrast as you can see.

Heading out tonight to visit some of our neighbours so its an early blip!
