Thursday 3 May 2012: Herman meets his end
Today, da-da, the day you've been waiting for, when the fate of Herman the visiting sourdough starter is realised.
Actually, once all the faffing about, feeding him and stirring him was done, it was quite odd to get to the part where we cooked him, after 10 days of TLC.
By the time we'd added all the fruit, spices and indeed 2 teaspoons of baking powder, I was beginning to think that the Herman sourdough part of this was practically superfluous. But it's been a bit of fun, and boy was it tasty.
