A view from my life

Friday 4 May 2012: The 'wee mad road'

This is one of my favourite roads in this area of Scotland. It follows the coastal route through Assynt to Lochinver. I love it but am no the one driving! It is very narrow and twisty and in places is hemmed in by loch side walls leaving no room for manoeuvre if you meet somebody!

Here you can see the bulk of Suillven which dominates the area. Along the road are the newly green beech trees and the roadsides are full of wild primroses. We also usually see Red deer along here and today was no exception. A stag and a hind were grazing amongst the gorse. We also saw two Eider ducks in one of the bays.

We went to Lochinver Village Hall for a Produce and Craft market. We set off in bright sunshine but as we sat having a coffee we looked pout to see it was snowing!
Well it is a Bank Holiday starting!
