Sunday 6 May 2012: Soliman
One of the most handsome elders I have met here. I just love the white whiskers, weathered skin and those sparkly blue eyes!
Soliman is 89 years old. Everyday, you can find him here, at the foot of the Qorna Mountain, under a huge map of the West Bank monuments. He sits in the shade, waiting for taxis and small buses carrying tourists, who are going to buy their tickets for the tombs and Temples.
His business? For his whole life, he has sold the fly 'Shwishers' as I call them. Made from dried grass and palm, you use them to wave around you, keeping the persistent blighters at bay!
He is such a polite old guy and is always wearing a smile.
