Curly Horses!

This is a breed of horse that has captured my interest -- they're tough and strong and well-suited to northern climates. I gather they've been found in pockets throughout the US, with some brought to Canada. And they're in Mongolia!

Apparently they are different from other horses, in that people with allergies don't have a reaction to this breed. They smelled different to me. But most facinating is that they are rock-solid, and tend to have more donkey-like qualities about things that frighten them -- they plant their feet rather than flee. If you've been following along with my year of riding a certain Icelandic horse, you can see the appeal...

There's a farm that raises Curly Horses near Guelph, and I got to stop in and photograph a few of them. And fall in love with them!
