Saturday 5 May 2012: Walking on Water
It wasn't the plan at all. In the end it was inevitable, but this wasn't the worst of it by far. We'd walked only half a mile and on passing through Gotham Farm, a voice boomed from the barn 'you're not going via Mill Lane are you?'
In spite of appearances, this is not a stream, it is Mill Lane, an unmade road and as the farmer said 'it was wet a fortnight ago and we've had a lot of rain since then'. Do have a look at the linked photos above, it is the muddiest unmade lane I've ever encountered and glad we found it before the pub, rather than after at.
Nevertheless, it was a great walk, in total a little over 8 miles with the obligatory pub near the end.
