Sterna hirundo

A trip down to Ocean Terminal; I was delighted to see that the Common Terns were back!

They were not coming very close, concentrating on picking up little fish to present to their mates, and squabbling between themselves...it will be later in the season when they get run ragged trying to feed the chicks and come up the river to the Shore.

One of the signs for me that summer is just round the corner :)

Must be viewed embiggified, even though the cropping has lowered the quality somewhat...
