Tuesday 8 May 2012: That's No Moon (it's Venus) (129/366)
Venus is extraordinarily big & bright in the sky tonight. So much so that it seems more like a moon than a planet.
It's hanging around in the constellation Auriga. I think that the star above and to the right is Capella, but it might be Hassaleh. I really need to get better at this!
I tried shooting Saturn too. Succeeded, and picked out what I think were one or two moons, but the planet was a bit blobby and not the archetypal Saturn shape.
Mars is also clearly visible and identifiable with the naked eye. A good night for planet-spotting.
