First trillium

Ontario's official flower is the trillium. Linda has saved a bunch of them from destruction by relocating them to her garden when they were to be paved over for roadway diversions and other work. This one has a bit of dirt on it kicked up by recent rains. It's still a pretty thing. They are commonly found in woodlots and forests. They prefer filtered light. About this time of year you can see them by the hundreds when walking through the woods.

Here is more information for the curious.
