Wednesday 9 May 2012: Orchid Flower
This is the first of many buds of this orchid to open. I wonder what attracts the pollinator inside?
The plant was a birthday present to me from my brother and his wife, did really well at first then didn't............... I've overwintered it in a very bright , warm position by a window, and now it has three shoots laden with buds!
In honour of it's sentimental value I thought it would be nice to shoot a 'studio portrait' , so we used a tripod and lights with gels. Of course this is all just in case the buds fall off again..............
