Thursday 10 May 2012: Silvereye/Tauhou

We have plenty of Silvereye ( Waxeye) in the garden now they have been busy in the trees and around the rose's .

Ive been reading in Andrew Crowe's book on "Which New Zealand Bird" that these wee birds arrived from Australia around 1832 the Maori named it Tauhou meaning stranger.
The Silvereye can live to over 11 years old.
