Friday 11 May 2012: Stars in the sea

First trip to the sea for a few weeks and a beautiful day for it. In the boatyards at Le Grau d'Agde boats were being repainted and hoisted into the water for the summer season, while the all-year round fishing boats were working as usual. At the beach there were even some holidaymakers brave enough to swim. I paddled, for the first time this year, but I can wait a few weeks until the water warms up a bit more before I take the plunge. An antillais-inspired (Caribbean, from Guadaloupe) lunch by the beach in a new favourite for us.

A lot of the buildings in the town of Agde, which has been settled since ancient Greek times, are made from black stone from the extinct volcano nearby, and there are a lot of black rocks on the sand in the sea too, as well as shells. It looks quite good in LARGE
