Clyde old & new

We took the Kelvin/Govan ferry and passed the new transport museum and relocated Glenlee - a cargo ship built in Port Glasgow that first took sail in 1896. The Glenlee is one of 5 Clydebuilt sailing ships that remain afloat in the world.
Taking refuge from the rain we drank in the Old Toll Bar on Paisley Road West and Govan Road junction. We spoke to Jimmy, a 61 year-old ship builder, who was one of 200 yearly apprenticeships. Today, Jimmy told us, only 16 Clyde ship building apprenticeships are taken on each year.
