A crazy day! Fern mania! Karin and I took ourselves over to a local fernery to procure a few to adorn our front verandas. Turns out, half the town was doing the same (in this picture you can make out a guy heading away to the right with a couple of ferns too!)
We did not want to drive over. It's silly close so walking makes complete sense. But it's just far enough that walking with these ferns would have been very awkward. So Karin suggested we take our garden wheelbarrow.
Karin said it first, but I had thought it myself too that it felt both embarrassing and also cool. Initially mostly embarrassing. But after a few minutes mostly cool. On our way back, with three ferns and a fuchsia in our barrow, almost everyone was smiling at us as they past by. It was fun!
Now, at nearly 9pm, we're sitting out on what is now our resort porch (the upstairs veranda) enjoying being surrounded by our new ferns. It feels downright exotic sitting out here in the very nice warm evening air and our new plants and the porch is newly painted and we've brought out our veranda furniture.
And sipping some Lagavulin ;) ;)
