Sunday 13 May 2012: Heron
It's been a gorgeous day today and we went for a 10 km walk through the countryside where the Battle of Waterloo took place.
We walked through fields and villages, and stopped off to have a picnic on the steps of a village church.
It was really peaceful and we saw lots of wildlife including this Heron who was in the middle of a swamp. We saw him land but he was a distance away, so I aimed the camera, zoomed into the middle of the swamp and quickly took the shot before he flew off again. I'm really pleased with the end result as I wasn't sure I'd even captured him.
