MISCHA ARE YOU AWAKE?

I asked her at 6.50 this morning. Yesterday evening we had seen a fox in the dunes, not very near, but still a fox. A falcon flew into a tree and we had been thrilled.
Why not rise early and hope for a chance to see the fox again?
We found a shepherd with sheep who should eat the new green between the heather, but they refused to do that. The two dogs could keep them together but not make them eat.
We stopped and lay lazily in the grass, the sun warming us already.
If the fox was there, he was hidden between the high grass and after a while we left that lovely spot.
We saw some rabbits, a lovely butterfly, a mouse and a tiny mole, but she was dead. Then there are so many cormorants in dead trees, a lot babies, crying loudly for food!
This afternoon Piet Hein and I will go to Kamerik, to visit dear friends. We have lived in that village for 28 years, left friends behind and a past with many good and some bad remembrances.

My haiku:

The houses along
The canal, the trees but they
Are newly planted

And the spanish proverb:

There is more harm in the village than is dreamt of.
