A Celebration of a life well lived .....

Today was a celebration service for our friend Ivor Spark.. He died on the 9th May due to renal failure.
The past few months, he had not been well, received treatment, reacted well, but unfortunately his kidneys became problematical.

I have blipped Ivor and Johann a few times, on their bikes, ready to set off into the wide (wild!) unknown .... to some magical bikers' destination.
For the past few years, their regular Sunday morning ride was across the Outeniqua Pass, to Oudtshoorn, then across another pass - Robinson Pass.
At Eight Bells they would stop for a well deserved breakfast while having a chat about everything under the sun.

During the touching service in the Biker's Church, many tales were told, interesting stuff that few people knew about Ivor.
Although he was a reserved person, he was a remarkable man.

We shall miss him, his passing is a great loss to the biker community, but even more so to his lovely wife, son, Linda, and grand daughters.

About a month ago, Ivor and Johann took the road (for the last time, little did they know) across the Outeniquas to Oudtshoorn where the KKNK (Arts Festival) was in full swing.
There, he cast a loving/appreciative eye towards the Harleys on exhibit!

At 85, he was a legend amongst the bikers, a real gentlemen, much loved and revered.

He was born and bred in The Lakes District, England, and after WWII, his life took a turn that took him and his wife to Rhodesia.
He lived and work in almost all of the African countries, for most part of his life.

Ivor and Helen have lived in our part of the country for the past 9 years, and it was a privilege to have been counted amongst their friends.

Go well, friend. Till we meet again.
