Monday 14 May 2012: Stormin' Norman
Or William the Conqueror as he is better known, one of thirty five seven foot sculptures of British monarchs that adorn the exterior of Bradford Town Hall. The sculptures were the work of Farmer and Brindley who carved ornamental scupltures for many fine Victorian buildings including the Albert Memorial, the Natural History Museum, and Manchester Town Hall.
These have occasionally cropped up in the background of my blips before, Henry VIII being a notable appearance. The first Norman kings are on the south east aspect of the building, and catch the sun well in the morning. They are high above the heads of passers by, but an upward glance is rewarded by some fine details.
