sea turtle

went to a nature center by the beach to see the 2 loggerhead turtles soon to be released. this is the male (why he has the blue spot), there is also a female, and they are 6 years old. they will have satellite monitors attached to study the behavior and travel of captive raised juvenile turtles.
there are about 6 large outdoor tanks, indoor displays, classrooms, nature trail, butterfly garden, and a few other native animals on the grounds. they also conduct turtle walks at night when the females are nesting, and you can see a turtle lay her eggs, bury them and crawl back into the sea. (we did it once)
