Chateau de Biron

Over the last few days, we've been hither and thither, visiting a number of bastides and chateaux. Today we visited a bastide called Monpazier (which is fantastic and highly recommended) and this chateau.

The Chateau de Biron was started in the 11th century and was owned continuously by the same family until the early 20th! That doesn't happen very often. The best thing about it is that you can just wander all over the place. There's no fancied up rooms with delicate furniture, just lots of spiral stairs and ancient rooms and magnificent views. Especially when the light rain stops and the sun comes out.

If you want to know what a bastide is, it's in wiki here.
