Tiled Shadows

I had reason to walk from the station today along to Shandwick Place via Rose Street Lane North and then through to Tollcross, and I can confirm that there is not an hundred yard stretch of road in central Edinburgh, that is not out of bounds by dint of tramline excavation or building alteration.

The Assembly Rooms upgrade and the new building work at the Conference Centre in Morrison Street make the usual rat runs closed, and the work in Princes Street and Shandwick Place severely curtail the ability of the pedestrians to jinx across the roads as the mood takes them to visit shops on either side.

There may be a recession, but it's not obvious in the amount of building upheaval in central Edinburgh.
Any visitor with a car should be advised to bring with them a bottle of Xanax pills to alleviate anxiety and panic attacks.

The train tickets were bought during my foray to bedlam for a trip to the seaside at Ayr tomorrow, to meet up with my hitherto mislaid friend, Lesley.
She has suggested that we bring our wellies as the weather forecast is dire.

Unfortunately we don't own any, but we have a very large umbrella and anoraks with hoods. We won't bother with our swimming cozzies.
