Wednesday 16 May 2012: Summit

The stretch of the Rochdale Canal out of Littleborough towards Yorkshire leads to the Summit. The Rochdale is described as the Everest of Canals, not just because it is high above sea level, but also because navigating up to the Summit, through numerous difficult locks, is the canal boating equivalent to climbing a Himalayan peak.

A photograph of the actual Summit can be seen here. Today's blip struck me as a more interesting photograph, of some canalside cottages a mile and a half and eleven locks to the South West.
