Yamaha 250SR Gas Tank

The little Yamaha motorcycle I rebuilt this year had been totally neglected for nearly 20 years.

It’s gas tank had water in it long enough to allow a linear rust through hole to develop along the waterline.

Actually there were five such rust holes on both sides of the tank and at the petcock mount.

I patched all of the holes with hand crafted metal plates epoxy glued into place with “JB Weld” last May.

Four of the five patches are working perfectly, sadly the one most difficult for which to shape a proper patch failed.

My son will weld the flaw this time which should make it right once and for all.

An epoxy liner will complete the job properly this time around.

I miss riding this little motorcycle very much!
