Sauvie Island

This morning came in sparkling and freezing again but as the day progressed it clouded over, although still very cold.  We decided to head over to Sauvie Island to purchase our new annual parking permit for the island and to take a walk.  A discussion on the drive over wondering why cars - except for SUV types, station wagons, and Prius - no longer seem to have a rear windshield wiper, it's weird they don't, when did this happen?  They do in Europe but not here.

Arrived at the Reeder Beach store and the very friendly guy told us the annual permits weren't ready yet so we just bought a day one.  It was later in the day than when we're usually here so we checked the time for sundown - enough time for a 40 minute walk.

Some people had a built a fire on the beach, it was visible from a long way off so we decided we'd head in their direction.  This shot was taken from right next to the Collins Beach UFO.

Will load some more pix to Flickr at some point, trying to stay off the computer because of my stupid back.
