Calke Abbey

It 's been a busy week so this morning we promised ourselves a break and an evening walk.

We ended up at Calke Abbey and whilst I had said to myself I wouldn't photograph any more bluebells, the colour contrast of the young leaves and the bluebells was too tempting an opportunity to miss.

There were a lot of grey squirrels feasting on the young oak shoots, dropping them once they had eaten the best bits. The red deer are showing antlers in velvet, but there is still some growth to come yet.
