The Battle of Suomussalmi was fought during the Winter War between the Soviet Union and Finland in November 1939 - January 1940. Strenght: FIN 3 regiments (11 000 men) - SOV 2 divisions + tank brigade (50 000 men). On January 7 before noon all Soviet resistance was suppressed. Two Soviet divisions were destroyed. Casualties and losses: FIN 2000 dead or missing - SOV 20 000 dead or missing.
