This is part of a 'Finger Wheel Hay Rake' from the 1950's and was used to turn hay when it was drying or to collect in rows for baling.

This rake is one of a group of vintage agricultural machines to be found at College Lake (Nr Tring, Herts), one of the nature reserves belonging to the Berks, Bucks and Oxon Wildlife Trust.

It was an exposed and windy 2 mile walk around the reserve this morning but bright and sunny. We were treated to a close-up view of a female Sparrowhawk who perched in a nearby tree ( but not close enough for a photo unfortunately).
