Shetlands in the Sun

A beautiful, bright, sunny day.

An amazing contrast to yesterday's weather. Gone were the hurricane force winds which caused travel chaos, with bridges being closed in our area. Instead, it was like a Spring day which certainly tempted us out into the countryside. Eleanor was driving and I was looking for blips and this view with the Shetlands was just a brief glimpse as we passed between farm buildings. We stopped and turned back and I was able to stand beside a bridge to take the photo.

There are a number of fields around where there are one or two Shetland ponies but this was the first time I had seen six together. They really seemed to be basking in the sunshine. Shortly after this, the farmer came with some hay and they all trotted off for a feed.

It would be nice if this weather continued but the forecast is for more snow and ice. I can't remember a time when the weather alternated from wild to glorious as much as it has done this year.
