Friday 18 May 2012: Cactus Blossoms
BACKBLIP
We have three large cacti in our front yard, all three of which have grown from three little cactus pads we stuck into the sand a few years ago. I always love when they bloom and each year they seem to have more and more blossoms. The blossoms are a really bright yellow, but I've muted the color quite a bit to bring out the detail. I love the almost transparent petals. Amazing how cacti produce such amazing blossoms with so little water . . .
We had quite a busy day today, visiting the Alumni Chapel at the University of New Mexico, where my cousin will be married in June. She has asked me to photograph the wedding, and I wanted to check the light inside. After that, Larkyn and I enjoyed lunch by a nearby pond and were delighted to see a mama duck with 6 ducklings. Larkyn had never seen ducklings before and loved watching them. They stayed quite nearby, which was also a special treat.
Sorry, I uploaded this one after today's (May 19) entry, so please take a look at today's if you have a moment. Thank you!
