Sunday 20 May 2012: Saying goodbye
In Emmen we have a number of protestant churches, all part of the Dutch Protestant Church. Today a last service was held in one of these churches. This community will join the services in another building starting next week.
Always a sad moment when a community is saying goodbye to its church. It's more than just a building. There has been joy and grief, couples got married here, people said farewells to their beloved, children have been baptized, people said their prayers here.
In the end, even the building has a soul...
