A RING OF FIRE
We had front-row seats to a spectacle that hasn't been witnessed in 18 years.
The annular solar eclipse - I used my "special glasses" and watched as the eclipse created a golden ring around the moon's silhouette. It began around 5:30
and lasted 4.5 minutes. The crowd at Hopi Pt. erupted with cheers and whistles. Could there be a better place to be?
----
This is the canyon An hour later with the sun's dying light firing-up parts of the canyon.
----
Thanks Blip Buds for sending Yaki Pt sunrise into the spotlight.
----
Oops, forgot to tell you, a California Condor landed on a cliff about 15 ft below us. We were able to get close-ups with a 300mm.
Life is good.
-----
To Arches tomorrow. Campground is 18 miles in and I might not get phone reception.
