Monday 21 May 2012: Coot with her chick

I was keen to have a quick peek at the pond to see what's afoot. No sign of the duckling or the moorhen chicks, but the coot was proudly displaying her one chick. The devotion was clearly mutual.

Today: have some flitting about a bit this morning and then aim to do some packing to prepare for my new nest. I've sold lots of gumph on ebay over the last few weeks so am rid of most stuff I've been carting around the UK with me for years. There are currently 58 people watching one of my Ikea bookcases, which is really very ordinary. Just had a few bits picked up by Second Opportunities, which is a really fantastic charity, so not purely motivated by greed. Just having a complete cull on anything I haven't made use of in years...or that I've grown out of. I'm being merciless.

Kind of.

Although, I immediately spent some of the newly acquired funds on a beautiful armchair that was less than a quarter of the price I'd seen it for on sale in John Lewis, even when I added the courier to the costs..... which wasn't really supposed to be the idea, but still............ :-) The house will be bare without any stuff! Lots to go in boxes...can't be arsed.

It's only 8.30 and I need cake. Or chocolate. Or a chocolate cake.
