One Crowded Hour

sundowner

This evening I had sundowner drinks with a friend to toast the life of her husband who died recently after a long, disabling illness and to toast her years of being a carer.

J is a master gardener and can transform a patch of chaos or rubble into a spectacular oasis of plantings and garden 'rooms' in a remarkably short period of time. Plants just seem to take one look at her green fingers and wherever she pops them in the ground they flourish and grow...and grow and grow!

This lovely space is a sort of inside/outside room furnished with her colourful touches, mosaics and collections from a long life interestingly lived.

(And for those of you who may have huge, unwanted concrete water tank lurking in their garden and are thinking 'what the..?' J had just that dilemma and after gasping at the cost of having the thing removed decided to cut a door and windows in it. With a wood and perspex domed roof, recycled brick floor and furnished with couches, cushions and old op shop rugs it is now the most perfect retreat.)
