The Mists of May

Brrrrr. A tad cooler today but I was still pretty cosy in my house under the stairs. The Boss has the lounge heatpump on a timer so it kicks in about 6.00am while I am still having zzzz's but he also leaves the lounge door a bit open so the heat drifts out into the entrance and around the house which is cool. Ahh I mean the extra heat is cool... The house is downright chilly. Nope, the extra heat is warm, err.. it's the idea that is cool.... So if you have a cool idea about getting warm, does one cancel the other out? Oh never mind.
Right, well outside it was seriously foggy and not looking all that flash hot. Well it wasn't looking hot at all. It was foggy and COLD. Duhhhhh!
In spite of all this The Boss talked to MY FRIEND PETER and we decided in the interests of bird watching we would "do" Mt Iron and apart from a serious diversion when I had a confrontation with a big guy and his dog (steel) ( acyclinggranny will report on this at a later time) who were not moved at all by my ferocious barking, it was a good day.
Wanaka does "The Mists of May" every year and the town can be blanketed, sometimes all day. The locals hate it. The photographers love it. Us dogs don't give a bark either way.
Oh... The picture was taken from the top of the mountain looking towards Hawea. The Boss thinks it looks a bit like a giant submarine. I think it looks like the top of a hill poking out of the fog. Humans are a bit hard to understand at times.
