Bush House

Bush House (visually written as BVSH HOVSE) is the home of the BBC World Service, and this is taken from the Kingsway/Aldwych side. It is named after Irving T Bush, an American who headed up the company that initiated the project. Interestingly it has numerous American connections, none of them connected to George W. The architect was another American, and the figures were carved from Indiana limestone by an American sculptress.

The two figures represent England and America. They hold between them the torch of human progress above the motto "To the friendship of English speaking peoples".
