The Way of Colour

Pottery shard

Absolutely beautiful day :-) 19C and a light breeze.

Post lunch walk along the road out into the countryside, then the usual right turn and down the bridle path for the half mile walk to the shore road.

Today's surprise as Maeve the Deerhound and I climbed the short rise into the field with the bridle path was lots of flashing blue lights in the distance. As we walked down the bridle path we could begin to see that there was an ambulance, two fire engines, some police cars, and a couple of vans on Arbroath Road just by the Westhaven level crossing. As we got closer we could see, right in the middle of the emergency vehicles, an overturned car. By the time we had wandered along the cycle path parallel to the road we could see the firemen cutting someone out of the car! I can only hope that the person or persons involved isn't too badly hurt as we didn't stand and stare, but continued on our way over the level crossing to the beach.

On the beach we had a slow wander along, looking for anything that might offer a blip idea. We saw stones with holes, lots of shells, drying seaweed, and shards of pottery some of which gave reasonable pictures. However, since the sun was high in the almost cloudless blue sky I thought that today's blip for the series "interesting little things on the beach" should be this glazed pottery shard amongst the sparkly colourful tiny shells at the edge of the sea :-)

Maeve drank almost a whole large bowl of freshly drawn water on our return home, and then had a snooze in a cool room whilst I mowed the front lawn :-)
