Christmas Rose

One of the brightest flowers in the garden which seems unaffected much by frost and snow is the Christmas Rose (Helleborus Niger).  I used to pick the first flowers on Christmas Eve but generally the flowers are more profuse around January and February. There are several legends associated with the flower, one of which states that the dried flowers were used by wizards to make themselves invisible –this I cannot verify not having seen any wizards!
