If you can't beat them...

Spring is sprung?

Down to regional Headquarters for a meeting this morning.  That left the after noon for a visit  to Mere Sands Wood Reserve.  There were ;lots of birds which I will list later.

The thing which really caught my eye was how far things have progressed by going a 100 miles or so south and about 1000 feet lower.  This is a shoot on a Honeysuckle  (Lonicera pericylymenum)  about 3/4 of an inch long.  Nothing as far on as that round here.

Birds seen on or from the reserve include:

Tufted Duck
Mallard
Goldeneye
Goosander
Black Headed Gull
Shelduck
Great Tit
Blackbird
Robin
Coot
Cormorant
Waterhen
Jackdaw
Egret
Carrion Crow
Nuthatch
Pinkfoot
Whooper Swan
Kestrel
Tree Creeper
Chaffinch
