The Staircase in Rules Restaurant London

Rules Restaurant in Maiden Lane, Covent Garden is London's oldest restaurant.  It was founded in 1798 and is decorated with pictures from its past.  Here are a collection of caricatures by "Spy" from the late Victorian and Edwardian eras, which were published in Vanity Fair.

Rules serves very traditional "English" fare very well - steak and kidney pie and game in season being a prime example - it has its own estate in the High Pennines.  It has featured in the works of Graham Greene and Evelyn Waugh.
