What I've Done

Thirlmere reflections

Please view large!

We were headed down to Rydal Water today, when passing Thirlmere we saw flat calm, and gorgeous reflections. Turned the car round, threw it into the car park and walked down to the edge of the lake. By the time we reached the shore, the wind had got up and the water was ripply. but within half-an-hour it had again gone calm. I used a polarising filter to take the reflection off the nearby water, and to darken the sky; whilst a 0.45 hard-edge grad balanced up the brightness of the sky with the reflections.

Many people don't like Thirlmere - they often simply refer to it as "the reservoir" but on a day like today, can you get a better spot?
