Spring is in the air

Yesterday I blipped our local female peregrine and explained that she has a new mate. Well, as you can see, they are definitely mating and getting along very well and this little of spell of sunshine has them think Spring is here.

Please see this as a special natural moment rather than Peregrine porn !

The new male is ringed and research has found that he is in his 3rd year. Originating from Dorset where he was found with his sister on a beach along with their nest that had suffered from a cliff slide. They were taken into care, reared and ringed before being released to the wild. His sister was later found in distress again and died. However this little chap has made his way north to find what we hope is a nice new home for him. Apparently there is some question whether he is yet mature enough to successfully fertilise this year but time will tell.

If you are interested I have made a short video of the full sequence of 27 shots here
