Thursday 24 May 2012: Cow Parsley
The lane to our house is lined with masses of cow parsley. Feels almost bridal as we walk between hawthorn and hazel hedges, homeward , still and quiet except for the birds. Fields either side full of bluebells, buttercups, hearts ease, speedwell, lessser stitchwort, red campion, and even grass of parnassus in places. Wild flowers are much under-rated.
"Where the cow-parsley skirts the hawthorn-hedge.
'Tis visible silence, still as the hour-glass."
Dante Gabriel Rossetti
