Thursday 24 May 2012: Mothers to be?

Today we went to the nearby island -civilization!- to get groceries and order some lumber for H's projects. Then it got sunnier and sunnier so I went out in the dory and hung around the seals on the rocks across the bay. Out friends insisted they saw 2 baby seals last weekend. I've never really seen the wee ones til July so this would be early (In British columbia they give birth between June and September). Well, there were 2 pretty small ones there but neither went near a big one except trying to get up on a rock nearby, the small one would get barked at and shooed away. I wanted to catch them nursing. but not. And supposedly twins can happen, rarely. So I decided to show post 3 who were not fast moving --SO FAT. surely there will be pups from them.....
Then later the wind came up so we had to rearrange boats at the dock -this favorite dory gets heavier every year but it can sit safely on the float in the wind.
