Bridgewater Canal, Manchester

I was struck by the quality of light as we walked from the station to Hot Bed Press for our Monday morning print workshop in Salford.

Sean introduced a way of working with `carborundum' which was new to me, which involved mixing it with white acrylic paint and applying this to the surface of aluminium Litho plates.  This meant that the surface dried quickly and we were able to move onto printing.  With techniques I've used before there would be at least another days drying and then varnishing the plate before it was possible to print from it.  Another very useful technique learnt.  I can't say I was at my most creative though last Monday - too much else going on.
